World War One Memorial Bench Vandalised

Over the period 6th-8th of December the Village War Memorial Seat outside the Okeford Village Stores was vandalised. The lid of the receptacle used to house the copy of the book of remembrance of the village war dead was wrenched off and is damaged beyond repair. The memorial plaque affixed to the upright back of the seat was also wrenched off and is missing.
The memorial seat was funded by people in the village and installed, in 2018, to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War in memory of the men of the parish who gave their lives. The container at the side held a biography so visitors could read about them.
