Due to the extremely dry weather, it has been decided to not light the beacon on Okeford Hill on 15 June. The beacon lighting was being planned to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

This decision has not been taken lightly but there is a heightened risk of fire in Dorset at the moment.
