Sent to me by a friend:
Please warn any older family or friends of a scam my father fell victim to yesterday afternoon.
From May this year pensioners are going to have to buy a tv licence – hopefully this will change – but yesterday my Dad responded to an email asking for his first month’s payment and he paid it on his credit card.
My stepmother was suspicious and reported it to his credit card company, but no payments had been taken.
Today the bank contacted them to say £800 has been spent on his card – small payments for netflix, fashion shops etc. Because she had reported it they will get the money back.
They said this is one of many scams but it is targeting a group who potentially are more vulnerable.
So sad.
So disgusting.
So please just warn people around you.
