November Lockdown Update

As you are probably all aware by now, a lockdown has been imposed for England for most of November. This will run from Thursday 5^th November until 02^nd December.

The print edition of Fippenny News for November had already been printed and was being distributed when the November lockdown was announced. As we learn more about the effect on any of the events in and around the parish which were mentioned in the magazine we’ll update this news article and make any changes we need to in the calendar pages of the web site.

If you would like us to include information about support for residents of the parish, or other items of interest, please get in touch.

A Correction

In ‘Volunteering Opportunities in Okeford Fitzpaine‘ on page 4 of the November edition we printed an old email address for Jeremy Gartside.

Remembrance Sunday

After guidance from the government an Act of Remembrance will go ahead at 10.45am on Sunday 8th November at the war memorial.

Representatives of the village community, serving military and veterans (and their carers) are invited to attend.

The general public may not participate in the service but may come as spectators.

Please observe social distancing.

Short Mat Bowls Club

The Bowls club will not start now till the New Year. Hopefully we can have a meeting with all the members sometime in December and decide on a start date. ( Corvid permitting. ) Will keep you informed.

Okeford Fitzpaine SOS Group remains active. If you need help (picking up a prescription, a few groceries etc), and live in the Parish of Okeford Fitzpaine, give Sue Finklaire a call on 01258 861357.

Events at the Village Hall

All village hall bookings from Thursday onwards are cancelled. Hopefully we can reinstate these from 2^nd December. The yoga class scheduled for 4^th November has also been cancelled.

The Craft Fair has been rescheduled for Saturday 5^th December. Fingers crossed that Boris does not pull the plug again.

The Vale Pantry

The Pantry is definitely opening this Thursday 5 – 8pm and again Saturday 9am till noon and will continue weekly on these days. Needed now more than ever I think!
