Sturminster Newton Orchestra was formed in 1990 by a group of friends wanting to create an open and welcoming environment for young people, students and mature musicians of all standards to meet and play in an orchestral environment.

The project was a resounding success – the orchestra now has a nominal membership of over 50 players with average weekly rehearsal attendance of over 40 players! The orchestra incorporates all instruments of a symphony orchestra with a few band instruments to further enhance the group!
