The Shillingstone Flower Festival and Open Gardens will take place on 21st and 22nd June. The Flower Festival will be held in Holy Rood Church. There will be displays all over the church, and arrangements by the village school, the Big Yellow Bus Project and a host of professional and amateur florists who enjoy creating.

At the end of the weekend Rev’d Andrew Gubbins will lead a service of thanksgiving for the festival in the church on Sunday evening at 6pm.

Tickets for both the Open Gardens and the Flower Festival can be bought at the Portman Hall (where there are also toilet facilities). Tickets for the whole event cost £10. You will be given a wristband with your ticket which will give you entrance to the gardens, as well as the Flower Festival in the church. Children are free. Parking is also free in the field beside the Portman Hall.

There are over twenty Open Gardens, mainly along the Main Road and Church Road, and with your entry you can pick up a map of where they are and the name of the host/ess showing the garden. Some gardens are new to the event and others have been open before. Please note some garden opening times may vary slightly.

Delicious cream teas, cakes and savouries will be available in the Old Rectory, Church Road, on both days so there is a chance to sit down and rest in one of these beautiful gardens!

To make this Village event more special, the Parish Council has asked people to enjoy making an effort with their front gardens so that this really is “Shillingstone in Bloom.”

There is a prize of £50 for the best front garden !!!
