‘Heritage Open Days is an annual celebration of England’s history and culture that allows visitors free access to heritage sites and community events that are either not usually open to the public, would normally charge an entrance fee, or are putting on something special for the festival’
. . .and it is ‘something special‘ that awaits visitors to a new HOD venue in rural north Dorset this September.
A decade long project has transformed the village centre church of St Andrew’s in OKEFORD FITZPAINE into a vibrant community space which reopened in May with a visiting Triptych by artist Anne Grebby, titled ‘Enfleshed Word’. Visitors are invited to learn about this large interpretation of Christ’s baptism which adorns the west baptistery until the end of September.
. . . and more awaits you with stories of scandal and smuggling, stained glass and seating!
THEN JOIN Benefice by Bike for a guided cycle tour of neighbouring churches in the Okeford Benefice.
Chose am or pm, short ride or longer loop but all ending back at St Andrew’s for TEA+CAKE on offer from our new servery.
PLEASE PRE-BOOK for morning or afternoon ride.
All funds raised and donations made during HOD 12-21 Sept will go to DHCT.
