Experience an exciting new line-up of concerts from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and some of the world\u2019s finest artists, all in the cosy setting of Gillingham Community Cinema\u2014no need to drive to Poole!<\/div>\n
Each performance will be captured in stunning full HD with multiple camera angles and rich stereo sound, offering an immersive and engaging experience. Hosted by BSO\u2019s seasoned presenters, the concerts will also feature insightful artist interviews to set the scene.<\/div>\n
Our first concert screening will be Adventurous Journeys:

\n– Beethoven: Symphony No.1

\n– Wagner: The Ring: An Orchestral Adventure<\/div>\n
It seems fitting that Beethoven composed his First Symphony at the dawn of a new century. Despite its homages to the older generation, it is very much a forward-looking work with its use of sudden and unexpected shifts in tonality, the inclusion of the not-yet-standard clarinets, and the more prominent use of the woodwind section at large that foreshadow Beethoven\u2019s innovation to come.

\nHenk de Vlieger\u2019s orchestral arrangement of Wagner\u2019s Ring Cycle ingeniously boils down this monumental music-drama in such a way as to create a unified, single symphonic work. The most important orchestral passages are seamlessly bolted together following the chronology of the operas so that the irrevocable process towards the twilight of the gods is clearly signposted. All of the best-known passages are included, among which are the Prelude, the Descent into Nibelheim, and the Entry into Valhalla from Das Rheingold, the Ride of the Valkyries and the Magic Fire Music from Die Walk\u00fcre, Forest Murmurs and Br\u00fcnnhilde\u2019s Awakening from Siegfried, and Siegfried\u2019s Rhine Journey and Siegfried\u2019s Funeral Music from G\u00f6tterd\u00e4mmerung.<\/div>\n
