Let’s see how many bat species we can discover on this exciting bat walk at Bere Marsh Farm<\/h2>\n

Led by guest expert Mariko Whyte from the Dorset Bat Group, you’ll get to use heterodyne bat detectors and learn lots of fascinating facts along the way from Mariko.<\/p>\n

We have been monitoring bats at Bere Marsh Farm for several years to help us better understand this intriguing species. There are 18 bat species in the UK, and we have routinely recorded 7 of these at Bere Marsh Farm to date. Advances in technology in recent times have made it easier for us to learn about these fascinating and secretive creatures of the night.<\/p>\n

Our walk takes place from 8.45pm-10.30pm, an ideal time to see and hear bat activity. We will explore a variety of habitats on the farm including open fields and woodland margins. Who knows, we may encounter a bat species not previously recorded at Bere Marsh Farm before.<\/p>\n

Essential Information:<\/h2>\n

  • Participation Fee \u00a310 per adult \/ \u00a33 per child \/ \u00a35 per CRT Friend or volunteer.<\/li>\n
  • Suitable for adults and children aged 8+.<\/li>\n
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.<\/li>\n
  • Booking is essential as spaces are limited.<\/li>\n
  • Sturdy waterproof footwear essential and either a headband or handheld torch. Please dress according to forecast weather conditions on the day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n
  • This event is weather dependent and will not go ahead if heavy rain is forecast. If possible, participants will be offered an alternative date or a refund.<\/li>\n
  • No refunds for cancellations (unless cancelled by the CRT).<\/li>\n
