SATURDAY 6TH JUNE 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

D-DAY CELEBRATION DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n

*TICKETS*<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

To commemorate the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day on the 6th June 1944, in collaboration with Aero Legends, there will be a special day at Compton Abbas Airfield. The sun will shine, the engines will roar and history will come alive.<\/p>\n

On the day highlights include vintage visitors flying in, including a few from HAAF\u00a0Historic Army Aircraft Flight<\/strong>. Please visit their stand raising money for Military Veterans! An array of invited military vehicles will decorate our paddock with their owners dressed to commemorate the day. You can expect to see\u00a0Tiger Moth\u00a0<\/strong>bi-planes,\u00a0Spitfires\u00a0<\/strong>(Elizabeth and Lady Luck), North American\u00a0T6G Harvard<\/strong>,\u00a0Chipmunks<\/strong>,\u00a0Beaver<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Auster<\/strong>, to name but a few.<\/p>\n

Land Girls and Boys<\/strong>\u00a0will be bringing the retro vibe alive on D-Day, as our own Lore of the Sky team will be given the opportunity to join in and dress up for the vintage festivities. The\u00a0RAF Cadets<\/strong>\u00a0will be lending a hand as event day hosts \u2013 they\u2019ll be able to tell you about the aircraft, point you in all the right directions and be a friendly face to help out with lost children or finding the way to the first aid base or nearest loos.<\/p>\n

Delicious food and drinks will be available all day courtesy of\u00a0Lore of the Sky<\/strong>. Bunting will be hoisted high and\u00a0Lore of the Sky<\/strong>,\u00a0The Smoking Barrels<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Horsebox Bar\u00a0<\/strong>will all be open. Pop up pick and mix sweets will be visiting on the day, for all your rhubarb & custard or sugar barley requirements. Blending nostalgia with the Great British spirit,\u00a0afternoon cream teas<\/strong>,\u00a0summer picnic boxes<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0feast hampers<\/strong>\u00a0will be available. Washing it all down with lashings of ginger beer, of course.<\/p>\n

Vintage vocalist, Sally<\/strong>\u00a0will take you back to the 1940\u2019s with some classic wartime hits and\u00a0Shaftesbury Town Silver Band<\/strong>, boasting 23 talented musicians, will perform with the warmth and character that only a traditional silver band can. Celebrating the past, embracing the present, and showcasing the vibrant sound of Shaftesbury\u2019s much-loved town band.<\/p>\n

YOU<\/strong>\u00a0can be part of this anniversary D-Day.\u00a0Special formation flights<\/strong>\u00a0will be available to book in advance with\u00a0Aero Legends<\/strong>, where you will follow the flight routes of D-Day Spitfires and the x 821 C-47 Dakota Troop Carrier Missions that flew in Operation Neptune on the 6th of June 1944.<\/p>\n

Visitors\u00a0COMING BY ROAD<\/em>\u00a0a Car Parking ticket\u00a0must<\/em>\u00a0be booked along with entry tickets as we are limited on space due to the nature of the site; CAR PARKING ticket\u00a0redeemable against the 1st purchase of food and drink from Lore of the Sky to the same value or greater.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visitors\u00a0COMING BY AIR<\/em>\u00a0must also purchase a ticket for the event \u2013 but can pay on the day at Main Ops.<\/p>\n
